Delaware’s Yurchak Selected as IWLCA Offensive Player of the Week
Miles McQuiggan
NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. (March 28, 2023) – Delaware junior
Lizzie Yurchak has been selected as National Co-Offensive Player of the Week by the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association.
Yurchak’s late-game heroics propelled Delaware to a pivotal CAA win over Monmouth. The junior midfielder’s career-best six-goal outburst included the game-tying goal with 14 seconds remaining in regulation and the game-winner in overtime for a 13-12 Blue Hens victory. The Delaware defense allowed two goals in the final 26:03 of regulation before winning in overtime for the Blue Hens’ largest comeback victory since 2019.
Yurchak is the first CAA player to collect the IWLCA honor this season; Drexel’s
Corinne Bednarik earned national weekly honors from USA Lacrosse Magazine earlier this season.
