RICHMOND, Va. (March 7, 2023) – The CAA announced its weekly award winners in men’s and women’s tennis. Honored on the men’s side were Delaware freshman Tobey Lock and the William & Mary duo of senior George Davis and grad student Bill Duo. Recognized on the women’s side were Towson senior Sarah Pospischill and the Elon tandem of junior Lizette Reding and senior Sibel Tanik.
 
CAA Men’s Tennis Player of the Week
Tobey Lock, Fr., Delaware (Bristol, UK)

Lock provided the match-clinching point as Delaware edged Monmouth, 4-3, in the conference opener for both teams. Competing at No. 5 singles, the Blue Hens’ freshman battled past the Hawks’ Lucca Silva, 7-5, 6-7 (5), 6-2 to extend Delaware’s winning streak to seven.

CAA Men’s Tennis Doubles Team of the Week
George Davis, Sr., William & Mary (London, England)
Bill Duo, Gr., William & Mary (Portage, Mich.)
 
Davis and Duo helped William & Mary earn the critical doubles point as the Tribe defeated long-time in-state rival James Madison, 5-2, last Saturday. Playing at the No. 1 doubles spot, Davis and Duo topped the Dukes’ Holden Koons and Aathreya Mahesh, 6-3. The W&M tandem is 7-4 overall this season and 2-2 in dual matches.

CAA Women’s Tennis Player of the Week
Sarah Pospischill, Sr., Towson (Reisenburg, Austria)

Pospischill went 2-0 at No. 1 singles to lead Towson to team victories over Rider (4-2) and CAA foe Monmouth (5-2) last week. The senior defeated Rider’s Leila Koster, 6-2, 6-4, as the Tigers swept the top three singles spots. She followed with a convincing 6-0, 6-2 triumph over Monmouth’s Ann Spurka as Towson again won the top three spots. Pospischill was also 1-0 at No. 1 doubles last week.

CAA Women’s Tennis Doubles Team of the Week
Lizette Reding, Jr., Elon (Leon, Guanajuato, Mexico)
Sibel Tanik, Sr., Elon (Raleigh, N.C.)
 
Reding and Tanik posted a 3-0 mark at No. 1 doubles last week to help Elon beat CAA foes North Carolina A&T (5-0) and Hampton (5-2) as well as Methodist (5-0). The Phoenix duo was dominant, rolling past A&T’s Cielo Tapia-Cruz and Nuria Sanz, 6-0, Hampton’s Angelina Blinova and Sofia Sokolova, 6-0, and Methodist’s Kamdyn Balko and Toni Laney, 6-1. Reding and Tanik improved to 6-3 on the season.
