CAA Rowing Weekly Awards – April 18

RICHMOND, Va. (April 18, 2023) – The CAA has announced its weekly rowing awards for the third time during the 2023 season. The Drexel first varsity eight collected its third CAA Boat of the Week honors in as many tries this spring.
BOAT OF THE WEEK
Drexel First Varsity Eight
Drexel won three races in two days to take home its first-ever gold medal in the first varsity eight at the Knecht Cup Regatta. Competing in Jim & Toni Downey, Natalie Cleri (coxswain), Taylor Powell (stroke), Mollie Knoff, Julianna Rogers, Hayley McKeever, Kirby Droogan, Rita Keefer, Giavanna Hunt, and Morgan Van Dexter (bow) opened the 16-team event with a time of 6:51.26 to win its preliminary heat. The Dragons went on to post their fastest time over the weekend in the semifinals, winning their heat in 6:43.25. Drexel won the Grand Final on Sunday, sweeping the competition by besting the field in 6:50.17.
