CAA Outdoor Track & Field Weekly Awards – April 18

RICHMOND, Va. (April 18, 2023) – The CAA has announced its outdoor track and field weekly awards for the fifth time during the 2023 season. Hampton earned a pair of honors on the women’s side as junior Dejah Grant received CAA Co-Track Athlete of the Week, and junior Dieusi Armand collected CAA Field Athlete of the Week accolades. Monmouth redshirt senior Ashley Navarro shared Women’s CAA Co-Track Athlete of the Week. On the men’s side, Northeastern sophomore Benjamin Godish was named CAA Track Athlete of the Week, and Monmouth sophomore Evan Niedrowski earned CAA Field Athlete of the Week. 
 
WOMEN’S CO-TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Dejah Grant, Hampton
Junior | Sprints / Hurdles | Springdale, Md. / Charles Herbert Flowers HS
Grant recorded two lifetime-best marks at the JMU Invitational, including a league-leading time in the 400m hurdles. The junior sprinter/hurdler ran 57.87 to win the 400m hurdles and posted a personal record of 13.88 to finish second in the 100m hurdles. Grant’s mark in the 400m hurdles ranks 21st in the NCAA East Region and 31st in the country. Additionally, she was a member of Hampton’s winning 4x400m relay team that posted a season-best time of 3:40.23. 
 
WOMEN’S CO-TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Ashley Navarro, Monmouth
R-Senior | Distance | Hamilton, N.J. / Steinert
Navarro ran a league-leading time of 2:04.98 in the 800m to win the event at the Larry Ellis Invitational. The redshirt senior’s personal record was the second-fastest in program history, while it ranks 19th in the NCAA East Region and 31st in the nation. 
 
WOMEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Dieusi Armand, Hampton
Junior | Sprints / Jumps | Westbury, N.Y. / Westbury HS
Armand recorded a season-best mark in the triple jump at the JMU Invitational. The junior from Westbury, N.Y. posted the top jump in the conference this season, covering 12.70m (41-08.00) (w) to place second in the event. Armand sits 30th in the NCAA East Region and 54th in the NCAA with the leap. 
 
MEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Benjamin Godish, Northeastern
Sophomore | Distance | Highland Park, N.J. / Highland
Godish broke the Northeastern program record in the mile at the Friar Invitational. The sophomore distance runner posted a personal-best time of 3:59.18 to win the event. Godish is the second Husky to run a sub-four-minute mile outdoors and the first since 1989.  
 
MEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Evan Niedrowski, Monmouth
Sophomore | Javelin | Wyomissing, Pa. / Wyomissing Area HS
Niedrowski set a Monmouth program record in the javelin, winning the event at the Larry Ellis Invitational. The sophomore thrower recorded a league-leading mark of 74.20m (243-05.00) in the competition. His mark ranks fifth in the NCAA East Region and ninth nationally.
