Golf
The CAA Men’s Golf Championship tees off Sunday at Dataw Island in South Carolina as Charleston aims to defend its crown; a full Championship preview will be available Saturday.
Men’s Lacrosse
The penultimate weekend in CAA Men’s Lacrosse features four games on Saturday, with three beginning at noon and one at 2:30 p.m. Highlighting the noon slate is the top two teams in the conference standings going head-to-head as Delaware hosts Drexel on Lacrosse TV. The Blue Hens are looking to secure hosting rights for the CAA Championship, while the Dragons attempt to bounce back from their first conference loss last week. At the same time, another pivotal matchup in the conference race takes place on Long Island as Stony Brook entertains Fairfield (FloLive). It will be the first matchup between the Seawolves and Stags as league opponents, but the teams have split a pair of contests over the past three seasons, with both games decided by two goals or less. Additionally, Hofstra looks to stay alive for a postseason berth when the Pride visits Hampton (FloLive). The afternoon concludes with Monmouth hosting Towson (FloLive) in the first-ever matchup between the two programs. |
Weekend Schedule
Women’s Lacrosse
All four games Saturday have major CAA Championship implications, but the spotlight will be on Tiger Field, where Towson hosts No. 9 Stony Brook with the No. 1 seed on the line (12 p.m., FloLive). The day begins with another pivotal matchup when William & Mary visits Monmouth (11 a.m., FloLive); a Tribe win would give W&M a 2-0 mark against the group currently tied for fourth. Drexel heads to Hempstead to face Hofstra (12 p.m., FloLive) with clinching scenarios in play for the Dragons, while Delaware looks for a key win to stay in a tie for the top four when the Blue Hens go to Elon (4 p.m., FloLive). |
Weekend Schedule
Softball
It’s an important weekend in CAA Softball as two series feature top-five teams in the conference standings squaring off. Arguably the two hottest teams in the league face off in Newark, with first-place Delaware hosting third-place Towson. The Blue Hens have won four straight league series, going 11-1 in their past 12 CAA contests, while the Tigers are winners of three consecutive conference series and five straight games in league play. Another key series pits second-place Elon against fifth-place Hofstra on Long Island. The Phoenix is the only team not to drop a conference series this spring, while the Pride looks to continue the momentum from its second CAA sweep this season. In addition, there are three first-time CAA series – Charleston visits North Carolina A&T, Monmouth hosts Drexel and Hampton heads to Stony Brook. |
Weekend Schedule
Baseball
Just two games separate the top six teams in the CAA standings at the midpoint of the schedule. Headlining the slate is first-place UNCW (21-14, 10-4 CAA), which has not lost a weekend series this season, hosting a Delaware (20-17, 9-6 CAA) squad that has won five of its last six. In a rematch of last year’s championship game, Hofstra (17-19, 9-9 CAA) takes a season-best seven-game winning streak to Northeastern (29-7, 10-5), which has captured six of its last seven contests. Second-place Elon (23-13, 12-5 CAA) hosts Stony Brook (13-21, 5-10 CAA), William & Mary (24-14, 9-6 CAA) visits North Carolina A&T (14-19, 6-10 CAA) and Towson (11-26, 2-13 CAA) entertains Monmouth (12-21, 3-13 CAA). Charleston (22-14) faces Western Carolina (15-20) in non-conference action. |
