W&M's Gurholt Selected As Most Outstanding Player At CAA Women's Tennis Championship

RICHMOND, Va. (April 26, 2023) – William & Mary sophomore
Hedda Gurholt was selected as the Most Outstanding Player at the 2023 CAA Women’s Tennis Championship in a vote by the league’s coaches.
Gurholt went 2-0 at No. 1 singles to help lead the Tribe to their second straight CAA women’s tennis title and league-record 28
th championship overall. She defeated Elon’s Sibel Tanik, 6-1, 6-4, as the Tribe rallied to edge the Phoenix, 4-3, in the semifinals. In the title match against UNCW, Gurholt topped the Seahawks’ Zoe Huffman, 6-3, 6-1, as part of a 4-0 team victory. The sophomore was also leading North Carolina A&T’s Lana Caculovic, 7-5, 3-2 in the quarterfinals when the match was halted.
Gurholt and partner Emma Pell posted a 2-1 mark at No. 3 doubles in the tournament.
Gurholt improved to 15-3 in dual match singles competition and takes a nine-match winning streak into the NCAA Women’s Tennis Championship.
