RICHMOND, Va. (April 28, 2023) – Championship fields will be set in CAA Women’s and Men’s Lacrosse in the final weekend of April, along with key series on the diamond, final preparations for CAA Championships in rowing and track & field, and a trophy to be hoisted in Williamsburg.

Men’s Lacrosse
CAA Men’s Lacrosse concludes its regular season this weekend, and tournament berths are on the line. No. 15/13 Delaware locked up the CAA Regular Season title and the top seed in the upcoming tournament last weekend, while Drexel also secured a berth in the postseason. The Dragons begin the weekend by hosting Monmouth on Friday at 5 p.m. (FloLive), looking to secure the No. 2 seed with a victory.

On Saturday, three teams – Hofstra, Stony Brook and Towson – fight for the final two spots in the conference tournament. At noon, Towson hosts Delaware (FloLive) as the Tigers attempt to hand the Blue Hens their first loss in conference play this season. With a win, Towson would snap a four-game losing streak to the Blue Hens and secure a spot in the CAA Tournament; however, the Tigers are still alive for a postseason berth with a loss but will need help. All eyes will be on Long Island at 7 p.m. (FloLive) as Hofstra and Stony Brook face off for the first time as conference opponents, with the winner earning a trip to the conference championship.

In addition, Fairfield will host Hampton at noon on Saturday in the regular season’s final CAA Game of the Week on Lacrosse TV. | Weekend Schedule

Women’s Lacrosse
Two teams are in and four will battle for the final two spots in the final weekend of the regular season. No. 10 Stony Brook, which secured the No. 1 seed in next week’s Championship with a victory last Saturday, will take on Hofstra Friday night on LacrosseTV (6:31 p.m.).

All three of Saturday’s games feature clinching ramifications. Towson, which is locked into the No. 2 seed on its home turf next weekend, travels to Delaware (12 p.m., FloLive), while William & Mary hosts Elon (12 p.m., FloLive) and Monmouth visits Drexel (1 p.m., FloLive). Drexel enters the weekend at 4-2, Delaware and Monmouth at 3-3, and William & Mary at 2-4. A three-team tiebreaker at 3-4 between the Blue Hens, Hawks, and Tribe would be decided by total goal differential in the teams’ seven CAA games. | Weekend Schedule

Softball
Half of the 2023 CAA Softball Championship field was determined last weekend, but there is plenty left to decide during the final two weeks. This weekend is highlighted by the top two teams in the conference standings going head-to-head. Second-place Hofstra hosts first-place Delaware in a pivotal three-game conference series that features a battle of contrasting styles. The Pride lead the CAA in batting average (.320) and runs per game (6.3) throughout league play, while the Blue Hens top the conference in ERA (1.79) and opponent batting average in CAA games and one will have to give this weekend. Additional matchups include Elon hosting Charleston, separated by 2.5 games in the league standings, Towson entertaining Stony Brook, UNCW welcoming Drexel to Wilmington and former conference rivals, North Carolina A&T and Hampton squaring off for the first time in the CAA. | Weekend Schedule

Baseball
Just 1.5 games separate the top four teams in the CAA baseball standings and two of those squads go head-to-head this weekend as Charleston (26-14, 12-6 CAA) hosts Elon (25-15, 13-7 CAA). First-place UNCW (24-14, 13-4 CAA) travels to Long Island to face defending league champion Hofstra (19-22, 9-12 CAA). Northeastern (32-7, 13-5 CAA), which is 20-3 in its past 23 contests, entertains Towson (13-29, 3-15 CAA), Delaware (25-17, 9-9 CAA) heads to William & Mary (25-17, 9-9 CAA) in a key series for the teams tied for fifth place. Stony Brook (16-22, 7-11 CAA) is home against North Carolina A&T (17-20, 9-10 CAA).| Weekend Schedule

Track & Field
With just one week until the 2023 CAA Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Championship, the league’s top individual performers will take the stage at the Penn Relays and several teams tune-up for next week’s event. Individuals who qualify from Elon, Hampton, Hofstra, Monmouth, North Carolina A&T, Northeastern, Stony Brook, Towson and William & Mary will compete at Franklin Field in the 127th running of the Penn Relays (FloTrack). In addition, Elon and N.C. A&T will send athletes to the Charlotte Invitational, while Delaware hosts an invitational at home.

Rowing
It’s the final week of the regular season in CAA Rowing, and all eight teams will be on the water tuning up for the conference championship on May 12. On Saturday, UConn, Delaware and Villanova will compete against each other, joining Bucknell on the Susquehanna River. Drexel is back on the Schuylkill River for the Kelly Cup Regatta on Saturday before joining Northeastern on Lake Quinsigamond for the Eastern Sprints on Sunday.
