CAA Women’s Lacrosse Awards – May 1

RICHMOND, Va. (May 1, 2023) – Stony Brook junior Ellie Masera, Delaware senior Madison Hranicka, and Drexel sophomore Jenika Cuocco are the CAA Women’s Lacrosse weekly award winners for their performances over the last week.
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Ellie Masera, Stony Brook
Junior | Midfield | Eastport, N.Y./Eastport-South Manor
Masera closed out the regular season with a massive performance in the midfield for No. 11 Stony Brook, as the Tewaaraton nominee tallied five goals, four assists, 10 draw controls, and five caused turnovers in an 18-6 win over Hofstra. The assist, point, and caused turnover totals were all career-highs for Masera, who leads the league in goals, points, and draw controls per game. Masera is Player of the Week for the fourth time this season.
 
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Madison Hranicka, Delaware
Senior | Defense | Mendham, N.J. / West Morris Mendham
Hranicka anchored the Delaware defense in a 13-9 win over Towson to clinch a CAA Championship berth for the Blue Hens. The senior from New Jersey notched six caused turnovers and five ground balls to hold the Tigers to their lowest goal total in CAA play. Hranicka is one of three players nationally averaging more than three caused turnovers per game this season and is Defensive Player of the Week for the third time this year.
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Jenika Cuocco, Drexel
Sophomore | Goalkeeper | Sound Beach, N.Y. / Rocky Point
Cuocco is Rookie of the Week for the fourth-consecutive week and extends her league record to seven honors this season. The goalie from Long Island notched 12 saves and held Monmouth to three goals after halftime to help Drexel clinch a third-consecutive trip to the CAA Championship.
