BESSEMER, Ala. (May 10, 2023) – UNCW women’s golf graduate student Phu Khine claimed her second PGA Works Women's Golf Individual Collegiate Championship on Wednesday afternoon at the Shoal Creek Golf Club. Khine, who won the PGA Works Championship in 2021, authored a 75-70-73=218 tournament score to edge Charlotte's Kaiyuree Moodley by one stroke in the 24-player field.

"I am so excited for Phu. What a great performance and battle down the stretch today," said UNCW Head Coach Cindy Ho. " A wonderful way to cap off her collegiate career at UNCW and we're so proud of everything's she's accomplished. She's been a leader on our team for so long. She's overcome injuries the last two years and has worked so hard on her mental game so I'm thrilled for her this week."

Khine opened play with a three-over-par 75 score before shaving off five strokes in the second round that featured four birdies. The Yangon, Myanmar, product shot even par from holes 13-17 in the final round to seal the individual medalist honors.

Both North Carolina A&T programs competed in the team event with the men finishing second out of 10 teams and the women sixth out of 10. In the men’s individual event, Delaware’s Sparky Ariyachatvakin – the winner of the event last spring – finished as the runner-up at 1-under, while Towson’s Julian Gonzalez tied for sixth to lead seven CAA golfers in the 27-player field. UNCW’s Hannah Altman was fifth and Delaware’s Christina Carroll eighth in women’s competition.
