Elon's Martin Takes Top Honor On CAA Men's Tennis Postseason Awards

RICHMOND, Va. (May 12, 2023) – Elon junior
Daniel Martin was chosen as the 2023 CAA Men’s Tennis Player of the Year, headlining the group of postseason award winners voted on by the league’s head coaches.

Veljko Krstic was selected as the CAA Rookie of the Year and UNCW’s
Mait DuBois received CAA Coach of the Year accolades for the ninth time.
Martin put together an impressive 18-6 record competing at the No. 1 singles spot for Elon and added nine victories at No. 1 doubles. The junior was a perfect 3-0 in singles at the CAA Tournament and was named the event’s Most Outstanding Performer. Martin, who finished the season on a six-match winning streak, is Elon’s first CAA Player of the Year since Felipe Sarrasague in 2019.
Krstic compiled a stellar 16-4 record in singles, playing mainly at the No. 3 position for the Phoenix. The freshman won 11 of his final 12 singles matches and helped Elon reach the CAA championship match for the second year in a row. Krstic, who added six victories in doubles, is Elon’s first CAA Rookie of the Year since Sarrasague in 2016.
DuBois picked up his third straight Coach of the Year award after guiding UNCW to a 17-8 overall record and its ninth CAA title after defeating Elon, 4-1 in the finals. The Seahawks advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the 10
th time in 15 seasons, where they were edged 4-2 by 12
th-ranked Duke. DuBois’ nine CAA Coach of the Year honors is second only to VCU’s Paul Kostin (10).
