Stony Brook Takes on Loyola Sunday in NCAA Women's Lacrosse Second Round

BALTIMORE (May 14, 2023) – The Stony Brook women’s lacrosse team continues its run in the NCAA Tournament on Sunday with a Second Round game in Baltimore against No. 8 national seed Loyola.
Stony Brook (15-3) battled back from an early deficit to outscore Penn State 9-3 over the final 33 minutes of a 12-8 win Friday night at the Ridley Athletic Complex.

Ellie Masera scored three goals each for Stony Brook, which defeated a nationally ranked opponent for the fourth time this season. The Seawolves earned a Spot in the Second Round for the 10
th consecutive tournament.
Loyola is 18-2 on the year entering Sunday’s contest after getting past Fairfield, 11-6, on Friday. The Greyhounds boast the nation’s most successful draw unit (69.7%) and seven players with 20 or more goals this season. The teams are meeting for the first time since 2010.
Sunday’s game can be seen at 2 p.m. on ESPN+. The winner will advance to face either Northwestern or Michigan in an NCAA Quarterfinal on Thursday.
