RICHMOND, Va. (May 18, 2023) – The final weekend of the CAA baseball regular season begins Thursday, while the league’s representative in the NCAA Softball Championship takes on the top team in the nation.

The stage is set for an exciting final week of the regular season in CAA baseball. All five series will have an impact on either seeding or who will make the field for next week’s six-team CAA Baseball Championship. The top four teams in the standings – UNCW (28-21, 17-8 CAA), Northeastern (39-11, 18-9 CAA), Elon (30-20, 17-9 CAA) and Charleston (33-18, 17-10) – are separated by just one game and are battling for not only a regular-season title, but a first-round bye in the tournament that goes to the top two squads. Four other teams – William & Mary (32-20, 15-12 CAA), Delaware (27-26, 15-12 CAA), Hofstra (26-24, 13-13 CAA) and Stony Brook (22-27, 13-14 CAA) – are trying to claim the final two berths in the tournament.
The weekend slate starts on Thursday with UNCW hosting William & Mary and Northeastern entertaining Charleston. Delaware heads to Monmouth and Stony Brook is at Towson. Elon and Hofstra open their three-game series with a doubleheader on Friday. |
