CAA Track & Field Student-Athletes Take on NCAA East Preliminaries Beginning Wednesday

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (May 23, 2023)
– Sixty-five CAA Track and Field student-athletes, including 54 individual qualifiers and four relay teams, will compete in the NCAA East Region Preliminaries beginning Wednesday. 
 
The road to the 2023 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships runs through Jacksonville, Fla., where the four-day competition will be held at Hodges Stadium on the campus of the University of North Florida. The commencement of events begins at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 24, with the men’s hammer throw and concludes with the women’s 4x400m relay at 8:45 p.m. on Saturday, May 27.
 
The top 12 finishers in each event qualify for the 2023 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships in Austin, Texas, at Mike A. Myers Stadium on the campus of the University of Texas from June 7 through June 10.
 
On the men’s side, four individuals and one relay team are seeded top-12 in their respective events entering the competition. The North Carolina A&T duo of Reheem Hayles and Shemar Chambers rank eighth and 12th in the 400m, with the Aggie 4x400m relay team seeded 11th. Hampton’s Jahiem Stern is fourth in the 110m hurdles, and Monmouth’s Evan Niedrowski sits fifth in the javelin. For the women, Delaware’s Megan Albamonti is the highest-seeded CAA athlete in any event, ranking second in the javelin.
