Delaware Men’s Lacrosse Draws Marist in the Opening Round of the NCAA Tournament

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (May 7, 2023) – The University of Delaware men’s lacrosse team won its second straight CAA Championship yesterday, and tonight it was announced that the Blue Hens will face Marist in the Opening Round of the NCAA Tournament on Wednesday, May 10. Opening face-off will be at 7 p.m. from Delaware Stadium on the campus of the University of Delaware.
The Blue Hens will enter the tournament having won seven of their past eight games. Delaware has been dominant this season posting a +81 goal-differential. The Blue Hens ranks third in the NCAA in scoring defense (9.25) and 13
th nationally in scoring offense (14.31).
Delaware is 5-0 all-time against Marist in the series dating back to 2003. Most recently, the Blue Hens defeated Red Foxes 15-14 in 2020.
It marks Delaware’s seventh appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Last season, the Blue Hens became the sixth team in conference history to advance to the NCAA Quarterfinals. Delaware is 5-7 overall in the NCAA tournament with three quarterfinal and one semifinal appearance.
The winner of Wednesday’s contest advances to face top-seeded Duke on Sunday, May 14 at 5 p.m. in Durham, N.C.
