SPARKS, Md. (May 9, 2023) – Five CAA women’s lacrosse players from the league’s two NCAA Tournament representatives have been selected to All-America lists by USA Lacrosse Magazine.

Stony Brook’s Ellie Masera was tabbed as a first team selection in the midfield, while teammate Clare Levy was selected to the third team on defense. Seawolves attacker Kailyn Hart, along with Drexel attacker Corinne Bednarik and goalie Jenika Cuocco, were chosen as honorable mention recipients.

Masera ranks fifth in the nation in goals per game (3.94), seventh in total goals (67), fifth in points per game (5.12), and 15th in draws per game (6.65) for a No. 10 Stony Brook team that enters the NCAA Tournament at 14-3. The junior from Long Island was named CAA Midfielder of the Year and to the All-CAA first team last week and has earned national Player of the Week honors from the IWLCA this season; Masera was the Most Outstanding Player at the CAA Championship last weekend.

Levy has helped anchor a Stony Brook defense that ranks fourth nationally in scoring defense (7.82) and scoring margin (7.53) entering the NCAA Tournament. The Seawolves allowed a total of five goals in their final six quarters of the CAA Championship. The junior from Long Island was a first team All-CAA selection and an All-Tournament Team honoree at the CAA Championship.

Hart is second in the CAA in goals per game (2.82), total goals (48), and points per game (4.18) – trailing teammate Masera in all three categories. The senior from Long Island notched eight goals and three assists to earn CAA Championship All-Tournament Team honors last weekend after collecting first team All-CAA accolades in the regular season.

Bednarik places third in the league in goals per game (2.71), total goals (46), and points per game (4.00) and sixth in draws per game (4.06) after helping Drexel capture an at-large berth in the NCAA Tournament. The senior from Pennsylvania was CAA Attacker of the Year and a first team All-CAA honoree in addition to USA Lacrosse Magazine national Player of the Week distinction in non-conference play.

Cuocco enters the NCAA tournament fifth nationally in save percentage (.532) and 12th in goals-against average (9.07) after a historic rookie campaign. The goalie from Long Island became the first player in CAA women’s lacrosse history to collect a second major award in the same season as a Rookie of the Year campaign. Cuocco was IWLCA national Defensive Player of the Week in April.

Drexel and Stony Brook will both open their NCAA Tournament runs on Friday evening; the Dragons are set to face No. 11 Maryland at 5 p.m. in Harrisonburg, Virginia, while the Seawolves will take on No. 20 Penn State at 7 p.m. in Baltimore.
