AUSTIN, Texas (June 10, 2023) – North Carolina A&T graduate hurdler
Paula Salmon earned First Team All-America honors to conclude the 2023 Outdoor Track and Field season at the NCAA Championship from Mike A. Meyers Stadium in Austin, Texas, Saturday night.
In arguably the deepest 100m hurdle final in NCAA Championship history, Salmon took eighth place with a time of 12.92 (w). The CAA Champion ran sub-13 in her last four races this season, including a conference record 12.91 in the semifinals on Thursday. She is the only hurdler in CAA history to run under 13 seconds in the 100m hurdles.
In her third straight NCAA Championship appearance, Salmon collected First Team All-America accolades and became the first CAA athlete to do so in the event. The graduate student earned First Team All-America recognition in back-to-back seasons to finish her career.
Salmon was just the second-ever hurdler from the CAA to advance to the NCAA Championship and the first to make the finals. She joins William & Mary’s Regan Rome (10,000m/5,000m) and Elaina Balouris (10,000m) as the only First Team All-America honorees for the conference since 2011.
