NORMAN, Okla. (Aug. 29, 2023) - CAA Golfer of the Year
Kieron van Wyk has been named a BCGCA All-American announced by the organization on Tuesday.
The Black College Golf Coaches Association and Golf Coaches Association of America have partnered to present the second annual BCGCA Awards. The awards honor black college golfers from all backgrounds and across all divisions of college golf. Honors include the Adrian Stills Award (Black College Golfer of the Year), HBCU Golfer of the Year, BCGCA All-America Team, BCGCA and HBCU Outstanding Freshmen of the Year, BCGCA All-Freshmen Team, and BCGCA and HBCU Coaches of the Year.
van Wyk, the inaugural BCGCA Golfer of the Year a year ago, was named the CAA Golfer of the Year for the second straight seson while being ranked in the top 100 nationally and finishing in the top 10 in three of his six events played. He won the bank of Tennessee intercollegiate in October at 13-under and had a season stroke average of 70.39.
The Cougars begin the 2023-24 season on September 18 at Chicago Highlands hosted by Wake Forest in Westchester, Illinois.
