Weekend Schedule
Volleyball
Five teams opened CAA play 2-0 last weekend, but only one matchup features undefeated teams going head-to-head this week. Hofstra, off to its best start since 1988, takes its six-match winning streak to Boston, facing Northeastern, who has won six of its past seven. The Pride has had the upper hand in the series, winning nine of the past 10, including a season sweep last fall. In addition, we have a rematch of the 2022 CAA Championship, with Towson entertaining Delaware on Friday and Sunday. The Tigers and Blue Hens were selected first and second in the preseason poll, setting up a pivotal early-season matchup. Towson has dominated the series as of late, winning 14 consecutive contests against the Blue Hens, and maintains a 51-39 edge overall.
Other matchups include UNCW, 2-0 in league play for the first time since 2015, visiting Elon and Campbell, coming off its first CAA victory in program history, hosting William & Mary (2-0). Additionally, two matchups have teams searching for their first conference victories this fall. Stony Brook travels 800 miles to the confines of Charleston, and North Carolina A&T entertains Hampton in a battle of HBCUs. |
Weekend Schedule
Field Hockey
League play continues Friday in CAA Field Hockey. The three-game slate is highlighted by No. 20 Delaware hosting Monmouth (5 p.m., FloLive) in a battle of the top two teams in the preseason poll. Last season, Monmouth defeated Delaware in overtime for their first-ever CAA victory en route to a share of the regular season title with the Blue Hens. The Hawks have won three straight in the series and hold a narrow 5-4 edge all time. In addition, William & Mary, who started 1-0 in league play for the third season in a row, hosts Northeastern (6 p.m., FloLive) in its conference opener. Lastly, Drexel entertains Towson (4 p.m., FloLive), with both teams looking for their first CAA victory. The weekend moves on with five non-conference matches on Sunday to conclude the week. |
