RICHMOND, Va. (Sept. 4, 2023) – The CAA has announced its field hockey weekly award winners following the second week of the 2023 season. William & Mary midfielder Pyper Friedman and Delaware forward Kiki Oudshoorn shared CAA Co-Player of the Week honors, and Drexel freshman forward/midfielder Val Van Hellemont earned CAA Rookie of the Week accolades.

CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Pyper Friedman, William & Mary
Junior | Midfield | Phoenix, Md. / Notre Dame Prep
Friedman scored both goals in a 2-1 road victory over No. 12 Wake Forest as the Tribe defeated the Demon Deacons for the first time since 1997. The junior midfielder opened the scoring by notching her first goal of the season in the fifth minute. After Wake Forest responded with its own goal, Friedman tallied her second score and the eventual game-winning goal just before halftime. It marks the first multi-goal performance and game-winning goal in Friedman’s career. The junior midfielder also led the Tribe to its fourth win over a ranked opponent in the past two seasons and second consecutive year with a victory over a ranked ACC foe.

CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Kiki Oudshoorn, Delaware
Senior | Forward | Ede, Netherlands / Marnix College Ede
Oudshoorn continued a torrid start to the season with back-to-back hat tricks and 13 points in a 2-0 week for Delaware. On Friday, Oudshoorn tallied her first career hat trick and added one assist for seven points in an 8-0 victory against Villanova. She didn’t slow down on Sunday, finding the back of the cage three times in Delaware’s 4-2 win over Columbia, including goals within 25 seconds of each other with the game tied in the fourth. Oudshoorn has scored in all four games this season, with multiple goals in three straight contests. She leads the CAA with 19 points and nine goals this fall.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
