Weekend Schedule
Field Hockey
Two weeks into the 2023 season, CAA Field Hockey has two wins over Top 20 teams by different conference programs. We hope to see that trend continue with four nationally ranked opponents on the schedule this weekend. Delaware, which has cracked the national rankings itself at No. 19, has a pair of top-20 matchups on the docket. The Blue Hens will host No. 15 Princeton at 5 p.m. (FloLive) on Friday before visiting No. 11 Penn State at 1 p.m. (B1G+) on Sunday. On Friday, William & Mary looks to return to the well, hosting No. 6 Virginia at 5 p.m. on FloLive. The Tribe is coming off a nationally ranked victory over an ACC opponent after defeating No. 12 Wake Forest last week. In addition, Northeastern, which has started the year 3-1 under first-year head coach Pam Spuehler, takes on in-state rival No. 16 Boston College at noon on Sunday (FloLive).
Finally, a pair of conference teams off to hot starts attempt to stay hot before league play heats up. Drexel is 3-1 for the first time since 2018 and looks to keep the train on the tracks, hosting Rider on Friday (5 p.m., FloLive) before visiting Penn on Sunday (12 p.m., ESPN+). Towson (3-1) is off to its best start since 2008 under first-year head coach Katie Gerzabek Salem and is riding a three-game winning streak, its longest since 2011. The Tigers attempt to extend their streak on the road at Bucknell on Friday (4 p.m., ESPN+). |
Weekend Schedule
Volleyball
The final weekend of the non-conference schedule provides plenty of tough tests for CAA Volleyball teams. Four teams will face Power Five adversaries, including two going to-toe-to with nationally ranked opponents. It marks the biggest test yet for the four-time defending CAA Champions as Towson heads to Pullman, Wash. for the Cougar Challenge. The Tigers face No. 8 BYU at 1:30 p.m. (Pac-12 Insider) on Thursday, followed by a date with the host No. 13 Washington State at 11 p.m. (Pac-12 Insider). On Friday, William & Mary takes on NC State (10:30 a.m., ESPN+) in a neutral site contest at the Bobcat Invitational hosted by Ohio and Charleston faces No. 17 Arkansas (1 p.m.) in Bowling Green, Ky. The Cougars continue a challenging weekend on Saturday, facing the host Western Kentucky (1:30 p.m.), which is receiving votes in the AVCA Poll. Northeastern joins the action on Saturday, hosting Big Ten foe Northwestern on FloVolleyball at 2 p.m.
In addition, Delaware looks to remain unbeaten with a pair of home matches, hosting Villanova on Friday (6 p.m., FloVolleyball) and Rider on Sunday (2 p.m., FloVolleyball); and Hofstra attempts to continue a hot start to the year at the Dartmouth Invitational. |
