RICHMOND, Va. (January 16, 2024) – UNCW freshman William Carrico was honored as the CAA Men’s Swimmer of the Week for the third time, while Northeastern senior Jamie Koo and UNCW senior Sophia Landeryou shared CAA Women’s Swimmer of the Week accolades. Receiving CAA Men’s Diver of the Week was UNCW sophomore Ethan Badrian and earning CAA Women’s Diver of the Week for the fourth time was Northeastern junior Erin Murphy.
CAA Men's Swimmer of the Week
William Carrico, Fr., UNCW (Durham, N.H.)
Carrico posted the second-fastest time in the CAA this season in the 400 IM, touching the wall in 3:55.78 as part of UNCW’s team win over Davidson. His performance of 3:48.42 at the Gamecock Invitational was the only better effort. Carrico also placed second in the 200 free vs. Davidson with a time of 1:42.01.
CAA Co-Women’s Swimmer of the Week
Jamie Koo, Sr., Northeastern (AF Pacific, Singapore)
Koo earned two victories in individual events and another in a relay to help Northeastern defeat Vermont, 222-76. The senior, who has the CAA’s top time in the 50 free this season, won the 50 with a time of 23.36 vs. Vermont and also captured the 100 fly with a time of 56.27. Koo was also part of the first-place 200 medley relay team with a time of 1:45.78.
CAA Co-Women’s Swimmer of the Week
Sophia Landeryou, Sr., UNCW (Reston, Va.)
Landeryou recorded the CAA’s second-best performance this season in the 200 free with a time of 1:50.21 as UNCW beat Davidson, 179-116. On Senior Day, she also placed fourth in the 100 free with a time of 52.17.
CAA Men’s Diver of the Week
Ethan Badrian, So., UNCW (Silver Spring, Md.)
Badrian swept both boards as UNCW earned a 195-100 victory over in-state foe Davidson last Saturday. The sophomore recorded a score of 309.90 to win the 1-meter competition and tallied a score of 346.58 to take the top spot in the 3-meter event.
CAA Women’s Diver of the Week
Erin Murphy, Jr., Northeastern (Duxbury, Mass.)
Murphy extended her streak with at least one win to four straight meets, earning first place on both boards in Northeastern’s 222-76 triumph over Vermont. The junior recorded an NCAA-cut total of 272.10 in the 1-meter competition and scored 278.55 on the 3-meter board.
