RICHMOND, Va. (January 30, 2024) – Towson senior Brian Benzing earned CAA Men’s Swimmer of the Week honors, while William & Mary freshman Lauren Tucker was selected as the CAA Women’s Swimmer of the Week after two record-setting performances. Delaware junior Philip Townsend was named Men’s Diver of the Week and Stony Brook senior Sara DiStefano was honored as the Women’s Diver of the Week.
 
CAA Men's Swimmer of the Week
Brian Benzing, Sr., Towson (Ellicott City, Md.)

 
Benzing registered three individual victories and one relay win in Towson’s meet against Delaware. The senior won the 100 breast by more than four seconds with a time of 52.78, which was faster than any swimmer in the CAA this season. He took the top spot by more than three seconds in the 200 breast with a time of 2:01.65, and claimed the 100 fly with a time of 47.91. Benzing was also a member of the Tigers’ first-place 200 medley relay team with a time of 1:29.45.
 
CAA Women’s Swimmer of the Week
Lauren Tucker, Fr., William & Mary (Bethesda, Md.)

Tucker broke a pair of pool records in William & Mary’s team triumph over Georgetown. The freshman recorded a time of 16:56.20 in the 1650 free, which was the 4th-fastest in the CAA this season and shattered a 12-year-old pool record by over 16 seconds. Tucker also swam a pool record time of 4:28.21 in the 400 IM, which is 10th-fastest in the CAA.

Townsend swept both boards to help Delaware post a 160-140 team victory over Towson. The junior took the top spot in the 1-meter competition with a score of 288.15 and claimed the 3-meter competition with a score of 276.00.
 
CAA Women’s Diver of the Week
Sara DiStefano, Sr., Stony Brook (Staten Island, N.Y.)
 
DiStefano recorded season-highs on both boards and qualified for the NCAA Zone A championship with her performance in Stony Brook’s win over Wagner. The senior won the 1-meter competition with a score of 275.10 and was second on the 3-meter board with a score of 289.88.
