RICHMOND, Va. (Feb. 1, 2024) – Defending CAA Men’s Lacrosse Champion Delaware continues its run in the national polls to begin 2024, as the Blue Hens are ranked No. 16 in the Inside Lacrosse Media, USA Lacrosse Magazine and USILA preseason rankings.

Delaware went 6-1 in league play, posting a +51 goal-differential against conference opponents en route to its second straight CAA Men's Lacrosse tournament title. The Blue Hens won their opening round contest in the NCAA Tournament before dropping a heartbreaker to the No. 1 Duke, 12-11, in the first round. Delaware finished the year 13-5 overall and ranked second nationally in scoring margin (5.28), only behind the National Champion Notre Dame.

The Blue Hens were voted as the favorite to win the CAA Men's Lacrosse title by the league's eight head coaches again this spring. Senior JP Ward was named CAA Preseason Co-Offesnive Player of the Year and was accompanied on the Preseason Men's Lacrosse All-CAA team by teammates Mike Robinson, Cam Acchione and Reed Kurtz. Ward and Robinson also earned Preseason All-America Honorable Mention recognition by USA Lacrosse Magazine earlier this offseason.

Delaware begins the 2024 season on Saturday, Feb. 10 at noon by hosting Lafayette. However, three CAA Men's Lacrosse teams will open competition this weekend, starting with Hofstra entertaining Wagner at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 3. On Sunday, Hampton visits Mercer at noon, and Stony Brook travels to Sacred Heart at 12:30 p.m.
