MANAHAWKIN, NJ (Oct. 30, 2024) – Monmouth’s Anna Moors received national honors on Wednesday morning, as she was recognized by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association as the Division I Defensive Player of the Week.
Moors became the first CAA student-athlete this year to receive the honor this after an impressive weekend, leading the Hawks to an emphatic 6-1 win over LIU. The sophomore defender had a heavy hand on both sides of the field, limiting the Sharks to three shots with only two falling on target.
With the game tied at one late in the second quarter, Moors popped up on the scoresheet to tally what would turn out to be her third game-winner of the season, which tied her for second in the conference. Moors tacked on two more goals, netting her first career hat trick. The Dutchwoman moved to eight goals on the year and put her in a tie for first on the team and third in the conference.
