Hollis Mathis made an immediate impact upon his arrival at William & Mary in 2019, becoming the first true freshman quarterback to start the Tribe's season opener since 1975. He went on to set school records for most total yards, passing yards and rushing touchdowns by a true freshman.

However, a serious shoulder injury brought his career as a quarterback to an unexpected end. Wanting to help his team in any way that he could, Mathis turned himself into a multi-dimension offensive threat, working as a running back, punt returner and wide receiver, while occasionally taking some snaps at quarterback as part of the Tribe’s wide array of trick plays. Now in his final season, he is the leading receiver for William & Mary’s nationally ranked team.

Learn more about his story in the fourth episode of CAA Football Going Deep. (produced by Alyssa McDaniel)
