Strong Performances By CAA Runners At NCAA Cross Country Regionals

RICHMOND, Va. (November 15, 2024) – Runners from CAA cross country teams turned in several strong performances as they competed in the NCAA Regionals on Friday.

At the Northeast Regional in Contoocook, N.H., Northeastern’s women’s team recorded an impressive sixth-place finish. Stony Brook followed in 15^th place and Hofstra was 39^th. Individually, Northeastern’s Abigail Hassman placed 11^th with a time of 20:09.44 on the 6K course, Stony Brook’s Grace Weigele was 22^nd with a time of 20:27.13 and NU’s Ava Duggan was 34^th with a time of 20:49.12. On the men’s side, Stony Brook turned in a 13^th place team finish, followed by Northeastern in 17^th and Hofstra in 26^th. Hofstra’s Abraham Longosiwa was the top individual performer in the 10K race, finishing 9^th with a time of 30:10.16. Northeastern’s Benjamin Godish was close behind in 14^th with a time of 30:17.46 and Stony Brook’s Henry Gartner was 47^th with a time of 31:05.35.

Participating at the Southeast Regional in Rock Hill, S.C., the Elon women’s team finished 12^th, William & Mary was close behind in 14^th and Charleston was 19^th. Individually, Hampton’s Peninah Mutisya led CAA runners by placing 27^th with a 6K time of 21:20.5. Elon’s Hannah Weber finished 39^th with a time of 21:32.9, Elon’s Mikayla Jones was 52^nd with a time of 21:50.5 and William & Mary’s Kyra Holland was 54^th with a time of 21:50.8. In the men’s competition, William & Mary was 20^th, Elon was 24^th and Charleston was 33^rd. W&M’s Hayes Trapp placed 80^th with a time of 32:01.1 and Elon’s Evan Taylor was 97^th with a time of 32:21.0.

Competing at the Mid-Atlantic Regional in University Park, Pa., Monmouth’s women’s team placed 16^th, Delaware finished 18^th and Towson was 29^th. Monmouth’s Emily Simko turned in the top individual performance with a time of 21:07.8 on the 6K course to place 46^th. In the men’s 10K race, Monmouth posted a 12^th-place finish. The Hawks were led by Declan McDonnell, who finished 23^rd in a time of 30:18.4.
