Strong Performances By CAA Runners At NCAA Cross Country Regionals

RICHMOND, Va. (November 15, 2024) – Runners from CAA cross country teams turned in several strong performances as they competed in the NCAA Regionals on Friday.

At the Northeast Regional in Contoocook, N.H., Northeastern’s women’s team recorded an impressive sixth-place finish. Stony Brook followed in 15th place and Hofstra was 39th. Individually, Northeastern’s Abigail Hassman placed 11th with a time of 20:09.44 on the 6K course, Stony Brook’s Grace Weigele was 22nd with a time of 20:27.13 and NU’s Ava Duggan was 34th with a time of 20:49.12. On the men’s side, Stony Brook turned in a 13th place team finish, followed by Northeastern in 17th and Hofstra in 26th. Hofstra’s Abraham Longosiwa was the top individual performer in the 10K race, finishing 9th with a time of 30:10.16. Northeastern’s Benjamin Godish was close behind in 14th with a time of 30:17.46 and Stony Brook’s Henry Gartner was 47th with a time of 31:05.35.

Participating at the Southeast Regional in Rock Hill, S.C., the Elon women’s team finished 12th, William & Mary was close behind in 14th and Charleston was 19th. Individually, Hampton’s Peninah Mutisya led CAA runners by placing 27th with a 6K time of 21:20.5. Elon’s Hannah Weber finished 39th with a time of 21:32.9, Elon’s Mikayla Jones was 52nd with a time of 21:50.5 and William & Mary’s Kyra Holland was 54th with a time of 21:50.8. In the men’s competition, William & Mary was 20th, Elon was 24th and Charleston was 33rd. W&M’s Hayes Trapp placed 80th with a time of 32:01.1 and Elon’s Evan Taylor was 97th with a time of 32:21.0.

Competing at the Mid-Atlantic Regional in University Park, Pa., Monmouth’s women’s team placed 16th, Delaware finished 18th and Towson was 29th. Monmouth’s Emily Simko turned in the top individual performance with a time of 21:07.8 on the 6K course to place 46th. In the men’s 10K race, Monmouth posted a 12th-place finish. The Hawks were led by Declan McDonnell, who finished 23rd in a time of 30:18.4.
