RICHMOND, Va. (Nov.18, 2024) – Week three of the 2024-25 Women’s Basketball season is here, and along with it comes another #CAAHoops WBB Notebook
SCHEDULE AND RESULTS
And Then There Were Two
Two CAA teams stand alone as the only undefeated teams in the conference.
- Charleston improved to 3-0 for the first time since 2021. Charleston finished non-conference play undefeated at home last year and finished the season 13-2 inside TD Arena. Most recently earning a victory over North Carolina Central, Taryn Barbot led the Cougars with 17 points along with six rebounds. Barbot surpassed the 500-career point mark in the matchup.
- Drexel earned its first Philadelphia Big 5 Win in program history defeating La Salle and moving to 2-0. Amaris Baker extended her double-digit scoring streak to 14 games after scoring 22 points in the victory, while Chloe Hodges finished with a line of 10 points, six rebounds, five assists, and three steals. Defensively, the Dragons held La Salle to 40 points, forced 19 turnovers, blocked three shots, and tallied 12 steals.
1000 Point Club
Fourteen points against Mercer made NC A&T’s Jordyn Dorsey the 15th player in program history to hit 1,000 points. The senior guard is the first player to accomplish the feat since Cinia McCray reached 1,000 career points during the 2019-20 season and has done it exclusively in an Aggies jersey. She reached 1,000 career points on a steal and a layup with 8:23 remaining in the second quarter
.
The Streak Continues
UNCW has won its last three games after an 0-2 start and matched its longest winning streak since the 2019-20 season following a victory over The Apprentice School. The Seahawks broke the 100-point mark for the first time since 1997 with a 103-22 rout on Saturday at Trask Coliseum. Ali Zelaya tallied her second double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds, while Jania Hall had a career-high six assists, notching her 200th career assist and also crossing the 800-career point threshold. UNCW set a program record with 36 assists as well.
