Jayda Angel are the CAA women’s basketball weekly award winners for the week ending November 24.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Olivia Tucker, Campbell
Freshman | Guard | Durham, N.C./ Panther Creek HS
Tucker averaged 22.0 points and 2.0 rebounds while shooting 48% from the floor as Campbell split two games last week. In a 58-51 win over ETSU, the freshman guard hit 5-of-8 three-pointers and poured in a game-high 24 points. The tally marked the most points by a Campbell freshman in the Coach Fisher era (since 2016-17). Tucker followed it up with a team-best 20 points in a narrow 71-66 setback to an unbeaten Miami team that is receiving votes in the Top 25.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Jayda Angel, Elon
Freshman | Guard | Fayetteville, N.C. / Cape Fear High School
Now a two-time CAA Rookie of the Week, Angel notched her first career 20-point performance against Power Four opponent Virginia Tech. The freshman guard had 20 points, six rebounds, and two steals in a loss to Virginia Tech while hitting 7-of-13 shots from the floor, including three treys. Angel’s point tally led all scorers and marked a career high.
