WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. and STONY BROOK, N.Y. (Nov. 3, 2024) – CAA women’s soccer regular season co-champions Monmouth and Stony Brook withstood late charges by their opponents and will play for the league title following Sunday afternoon home victories.

Monmouth was a 4-2 winner in New Jersey, and Stony Brook emerged victorious by a 2-1 margin on Long Island to advance to the championship game, which will be played Saturday at 7 p.m. at Hesse Field on The Great Lawn. The game can be seen on FloFC.

No. 1 Monmouth 4, No. 4 Hofstra 2
Summer Reimet’s first-half brace proved pivotal, as Monmouth saw a late three-goal lead trimmed to one before holding on for a CAA Semifinal victory.

Reimet scored off a takeaway in the 11th minute and followed with a turnaround blast in the 44th to earn Monmouth (12-2-5) a 2-0 lead at the break. Loren Gehret pushed the advantage to three in the 62nd minute before Hofstra’s Louise Hayden put one home five minutes later to get Hofstra (8-5-6) to within 3-1. Millie Davies scored her second goal of the Championship in the 82nd minute to bring Hofstra to a one-goal margin, but Liza Suydam iced the Monmouth victory with 36 seconds remaining.

Monmouth outshot Hofstra, 10-2, in the first 45 minutes before the Pride held a 12-7 advantage after the intermission. Monmouth’s Cassie Coster made three of her four saves and Hofstra’s Synne Danielsen recorded both of her stops after halftime. Suydam and Davies both added assists to their tallies on the day.

Monmouth will play for the CAA title for the second straight year and host the game for the first time as a league member.

No. 2 Stony Brook 2, No. 3 Elon 1
Stony Brook held a commanding offensive advantage, but two first-half goals were key to hold off Elon and send the Seawolves to their first CAA title game.

Reilly Rich converted from the spot in the 30th minute after Gabrielle Côté was tripped up in the box to put Stony Brook (13-3-3) in front. The Seawolves would double the advantage 10 minutes later on a Linn Beck header to lead 2-0 at the half.

Stony Brook would continue its barrage after the break, taking 14 of its 22 shots in the contest, while Elon (13-4-1) took five of its seven on the night. The Phoenix’s final shot attempt of the game got Elon within one, as Lauren McCauley scored to make it 2-1.

Katie Bisgrove made six saves for Elon, which matched its Division I single-season best for victories in 2024.
