Stony Brook's Billy Cosh Honored As 2024 FCS Coach Of The Year By The AFCA

RICHMOND, Va. (December 16, 2024) – Stony Brook head football coach
Billy Cosh has been honored as the 2024 FCS Coach of the Year by the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA).
In his first season as head coach, Cosh guided the Seawolves to the biggest turnaround in FCS football. Picked to finish last in the CAA preseason poll following an 0-10 season in 2023, Stony Brook posted an 8-4 overall record and a 5-3 mark in CAA play, achieving its first winning season since 2018. The Seawolves were ranked as high as 16
th in the national polls, which was their best ranking since 2018. Cosh was recognized as the CAA Coach of the Year for his efforts.
Cosh joins current William & Mary head coach Mike London as the only FCS coaches to earn AFCA National Coach of the Year honors in their first season as a head coach. He is the ninth different coach from CAA Football to win the award and the second in a row following UAlbany’s Greg Gattuso in 2023.
