CAA Women’s Basketball Weekly Awards – Dec. 23, 2024

RICHMOND, Va. (Dec. 23, 2024) – Charleston sophomore guard Taylor Barbot, and Elon freshman guard Jayda Angel are the CAA women’s basketball weekly award winners for the week ending December 22. 
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Taylor Barbot, Charleston
Guard | Sophomore | Floral Park, N.Y. / St. Mary
Barbot averaged 16 points across a week which saw Charleston go 2-1. Starting against Appalachian State, the sophomore guard handed out a career-high nine assists alongside 10 points in an 83-47 win. Barbot took the floor three days later and saw her offensive production improve, scoring 15 points with four steals in a 68-62 Power Four victory over Northwestern. The New York native’s best offensive performance came against Saint Joseph’s on Saturday afternoon, tallying a game-high and matching a career-best with 23 points.
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Jayda Angel, Elon
Freshman | Guard | Fayetteville, N.C / Cape Fear
Angel claims her third CAA Rookie of the Week honor, after hitting the game-winner in Elon’s 68-67 victory over Long Beach State. Down one, the freshman guard’s clutch second-chance jumper secured Elon’s fifth win of the season with two seconds remaining. Angel flirted with a double-double scoring nine points on 4-for-9 shooting and chipping in with eight boards.
