Richmond's Grant Among Top Three In Voting For 2024 Buck Buchanan Award

2024 Buck Buchanan Award: Jeremiah Grant, TJ Moore, David Walker Invited to Announcement at National Banquet | Opta Analyst
RICHMOND, Va. (December 3, 2024) – Richmond senior defensive end
Jeremiah Grant is among the top three in the voting for the 2024 Buck Buchanan Award, which goes to the best defensive player in FCS football.
Grant received an invitation to the announcement of the award, which will take place at the Stats Perform FCS National Awards Banquet on Jan. 4 in Frisco, Texas. He will be joined by Central Arkansas defensive end David Walker and Mercer cornerback TJ Moore.
Grant currently leads the nation with 13.5 sacks and ranks 11
th with 19.5 tackles for loss. He recorded at least one sack in nine of the Spiders’ 13 games, including three against Delaware State and Towson. Grant also contributed 53 total tackles, eight quarterback hurries, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery for a Richmond defense that allowed just 17.7 points per game, which ranks 9
th in FCS.
In its 30
th anniversary season, the Buck Buchanan Award is named for legendary defensive lineman Junious “Buck” Buchanan, who starred at Grambling State as part of his Hall of Fame career. Past recipients include Dexter Coakley, Rashean Mathis, Jared Allen and Arthur Moats.
