Khady Leye are the CAA women’s basketball weekly award winners for the week ending December 8.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Taryn Barbot
Sophomore | Guard | Floral Park, N.Y./ St. Mary
The CAA’s Preseason Player of the Year earns her first weekly award after a 35-point performance in an 86-45 win over Charleston Southern last Tuesday. Barbot went an incredible 10-for-12 from 3-point range, tying the CAA record for most threes in a game and recording the 2
nd-highest total in Division I this season. The sophomore guard, who was 11-of-17 from the floor, also set season highs in steals (4) and blocks (4) and added six rebounds.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Khady Leye, Towson
Freshman | Forward | Louga, Senegal / SPIRE Academy
Leye averaged 17.5 points and 7.5 rebounds as Towson split a pair of games last week. The freshman forward led the Tigers with 17 points on 7-of-10 FG shooting against UMBC, before notching her second collegiate double double. Leye had 18 points and 10 rebounds in an 89-62 win over America, marking the third-consecutive game she has scored 17 or more points.
