CAA Men’s Lacrosse Weekly Awards – Feb. 12

RICHMOND, Va. (Feb. 12, 2024) – The CAA has announced its men’s lacrosse weekly awards for the week of Feb. 5 through Feb. 11. Delaware graduate attackman Mike Robinson was named CAA Offensive Player of the Week, and Monmouth graduate goalkeeper Tommy Heller earned CAA defensive Player of the Week accolades. In addition, Stony Brook freshman Justin Bonacci collected his second straight CAA Rookie of the Week honor.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Mike Robinson, Delaware
Graduate | Attack | Peterborough, Ont. / Culver Military Academy
Robinson accounted for half of Delaware’s goals in a 14-6 season-opening victory over Lafayette. The graduate attackman tallied a team-high 7 goals and added one caused turnover in the effort. Robinson scored the first five goals in the contest, including all four in the first quarter, sparking an 11-0 run to begin the season for UD. It marks his fifth career game with at least seven goals.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Tommy Heller, Monmouth
Graduate | Goalkeeper | Port Jefferson Station, N.Y. / Comsewogue
Heller tallied a career-high 16 saves in his Monmouth debut, helping the Hawks to a 14-10 win over LIU in their season opener. The graduate transfer posted a .615 save percentage while adding three ground balls, and only surrendered five goals when the Hawks were at full strength defensively. In addition, the 16 saves match the most by a CAA student-athlete this spring and was one shy of the Monmouth program record.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Justin Bonacci, Stony Brook
Freshman | Attack | Port Jefferson Station, N.Y. / Comsewogue
Bonacci recorded his first collegiate hat trick, scoring three goals against No. 14 Rutgers. The freshman’s three tallies were a team-high despite a 16-12 setback to the Scarlet Knights. He also added four ground balls in the effort. Bonacci has multiple goals in back-to-back games to begin his college career.
