Madison Hranicka has been selected by the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association as its national Defensive Player of the Week, the IWLCA announced Tuesday.
Hranicka picked up where she left off in 2023 with another strong performance on Delaware’s defense. The 2023 CAA Defensive Player of the Year collected five ground balls and three caused turnovers in Friday’s 11-7 win at Lehigh to open the season. The caused turnovers moved Hranicka into a tie for third in program history with 86 for her career.
Hranicka is the fourth CAA player since the start of 2023 to earn a national IWLCA weekly award, joining Delaware’s Lizzie Yurchak (Offensive, March 28), Drexel’s Jenika Cuocco (Defensive, April 25), and Stony Brook’s Ellie Masera (Offensive, May 2).
