RICHMOND, Va. (Feb. 15, 2024) – CAA Baseball returns, marquee matchups await in other sports, and the indoor track & field schedule provides for final tune-ups before The Armory.
Baseball | Schedule
The 2024 baseball season gets underway on Friday and all 12 teams will be in action. There are several big series on the opening weekend, including No. 23 Northeastern traveling to Arizona, Campbell hosting No. 17 UC Santa Barbara, Hofstra visiting No. 14 Virginia and UNCW welcoming MAC favorite Kent State. Charleston, Elon, North Carolina A&T and William & Mary also open the season at home.
Softball | Schedule
We saw 51 CAA Softball games during the opening weekend of the 2024 season, and we get 58 more this weekend. All 12 conference teams are in action, with 11 teams on the road, including the defending CAA Champs, Hofstra, beginning its title defense. The Pride will face two Power Five opponents in Tampa, playing Boston College (2 p.m.) on Friday and Purdue (11:30 a.m.) on Sunday. Three additional conference teams – Campbell, Charleston and Elon – will have multiple opportunities against Power Five adversaries this weekend. The Camels and Phoenix will be in Raleigh with two games against NC State. Campbell faces the Wolfpack on Friday (5 p.m.) and Sunday (2:30 p.m.), while Elon gets NC State on Saturday (12 p.m.) and Sunday (12 p.m.), with all four games on ACCNX. The Cougars are in Gainesville with back-to-back matchups against No. 16 Florida on Saturday (12:30 p.m.) and Sunday (11:30 a.m.).
Women’s Lacrosse | Schedule
A pair of Saturday matchups against ranked teams highlights the weekend’s slate. Hofstra heads west to Carson, Calif., to face No. 15 USC (3 p.m., Pac-12 Live), while Drexel travels down the street to play No. 14 Penn (3:30 p.m., ESPN+). The day also includes home games for Delaware and William & Mary on FloLive and road contests for Campbell and Elon. No. 11 Stony Brook opens the season Sunday vs. Dartmouth (12 p.m., FloLive).
Men’s Lacrosse | Schedule
All eight CAA Men’s Lacrosse teams will be in action this weekend, including Drexel opening its season on Friday. The Dragons begin their 2024 campaign on the road at UMBC, with opening face-off scheduled for 5 p.m. on AE.TV. In addition, four CAA teams will face teams ranked or receiving votes in the national polls at noon on Saturday. Fairfield takes on No. 17 North Carolina in a neutral site contest, while Monmouth hosts No. 11 Princeton (FloLive) and Stony Brook entertains its second straight ranked foe, welcoming No. 13 Penn State (FloLive) to Long Island. Finally, Towson looks to hand Navy (FloLive) its first loss this season after a 2-0 start for the Midshipmen.
Indoor Track & Field | Schedule
We are one week away from the 2024 CAA Indoor Track & Field Championship at The Armory in New York City. Seven teams wrapped up the regular season last weekend, and six teams – Charleston, Elon, Monmouth, Northeastern, Towson and William & Mary – prepare for the conference championship with final tune-ups this weekend. Tennis | Schedule
The majority of CAA tennis teams are in action over the weekend. On the men’s side, Campbell visits Elon in an early season conference showdown. Three CAA women’s teams face Power 5 conference foes as Campbell visits Wake Forest, Delaware heads to Penn State and William & Mary is at West Virginia.
Golf | Schedule
It is a light week on the CAA Golf schedule, as the North Carolina A&T men’s program opens its season in St. Augustine with a tournament hosted by Eastern Kentucky, while the Charleston women’s team heads to Sarasota from an event hosted by Michigan State.
