NORTHBOROUGH, Mass./SPARKS, Md. (Feb. 27, 2024) – Stony Brook women’s lacrosse senior Ellie Masera added to her résumé Tuesday with national Player of the Week honors from the IWLCA and USA Lacrosse Magazine.

Masera was selected by USA Lacrosse Magazine as Player of the Week and by the IWLCA as Co-Offensive Player of the Week.

Masera unleashed an incredible week for No. 12 Stony Brook with 11 goals, six assists, and 17 draw controls in wins over Bryant and Arizona State. The senior from Long Island tallied five goals, one assist, and seven draws in Tuesday’s 17-3 rout of Bryant before compiling six goals, five assists, and 10 draws in Friday morning’s 20-9 win over Arizona State. Masera leads the nation with 9.00 points/game, is second with 6.33 goals/game, 14th in draws (7.67) and 15th in assists (2.67).

Masera is the IWLCA’s weekly honoree for the second time in as many seasons and is the CAA’s second award recipient from the coaches’ association this spring, as Delaware’s Madison Hranicka collected Defensive Player of the Week honors two weeks ago. She is the first USA Lacrosse Magazine weekly award winner since Drexel’s Corinne Bednarik last season.
