CAA Indoor Track & Field Weekly Awards – Feb. 6

RICHMOND, Va. (Feb. 6, 2024) – The CAA has announced its seventh indoor track and field weekly awards for the 2023-24 season. Northeastern swept the women’s honors as senior Azza Borovicka-Swanson was named CAA Track Athlete of the Week, and senior Hope Belvit earned CAA Field Athlete of the Week accolades. For the men, it was a Hampton sweep, with freshman Leo Davis collecting CAA Track Athlete of the Week recognition and senior Kelvin Fonville being named CAA Field Athlete of the Week.
WOMEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Azza Borovicka-Swanson, Northeastern
Senior | Distance | Bend, Ore. / Summit HS
Borovicka-Swanson set a Northeastern program and CAA conference record in the 3000m at the BU Scarlet & White Invitational. The senior ran a personal-best 9:27.20 to earn a top-15 finish at the event. Her time leads the CAA by over four seconds, and she is the only student-athlete in the conferee to run sub 9:30.00 this season.
WOMEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Hope Belvit, Northeastern
Senior | Throws | Bloomfield, Conn. / Bloomfield HS
Belvit recorded a personal record in the weight throw at the Crimson Elite 2024. The senior tossed the implement 18.42m (60-05.25) to finish sixth in the competition. The mark ranks second in the conference this season, and she is one of three student-athletes to record a mark over 18m.
MEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Leo Davis, Hampton
Freshman | Middle Distance | Williamsburg, Va. / Warhill HS
Davis broke the Hampton program and CAA Indoor record in the 800m at the South Carolina Invitational. The freshman ran a league-leading time of 1:47.05 to win the event in Columbia. Davis ranks seventh in the NCAA with his personal-best mark. In addition, Davis has dropped his PR over six seconds from his first collegiate 800m.

Kelvin Fonville, Hampton
Senior | Jumps | Chesapeake, Va. / Princess Anne HS
Fonville won the long jump - breaking the CAA record in the event - at the South Carolina Invitational. The senior leaped a personal-best 7.35m (24-01.50) to finish first in the competition. His mark leads the league in the event, and Fonville is the first student-athlete to jump over 24 feet indoors in conference history.
