Alexandre Leblanc earned CAA Men’s Tennis Player of the Week honors, while Charleston freshman
Oziera Ahmad received CAA Women’s Tennis Player of the Week accolades. Monmouth’s
Gabriel Busato and
Diego Laporta were named the Men’s Doubles Team of the Week and Campbell’s
Lily Chitambar and
Tamsin Hart were honored as the Women’s Doubles Team of the Week.
CAA Men’s Tennis Player of the Week
Alexandre Leblanc, Gr., William & Mary (Montreal, Canada)
Leblanc recorded a 2-0 mark at No. 1 singles to help William & Mary post victories over Navy (6-1) and CAA foe Drexel (6-1). The grad student battled past Navy’s Sasha Panyan, 6-4, 6-4 and followed with a 6-2, 6-4 triumph over All-CAA standout Alan Jesudason of Drexel. Leblanc, who also won both of his doubles matches last week, improved his singles record to 14-7.
CAA Men’s Tennis Doubles Team of the Week
Gabriel Busato, Gr., Monmouth (Jaragua do Sul, Brazil)
Diego Laporta, Sr., Monmouth (Tribuswinkel, Austria)
Busato and Laporta went 2-0 in doubles last week as Monmouth earned victories over Bryant (4-2) and Fordham (7-0). Playing at the No. 3 slot against Bryant, the duo blanked Daniel Baquero and Diego Trejo, 6-0. They moved up to No. 2 vs. Fordham and edged Nicholas Kanazirev and Dhill Virdee-Oakley, 7-6 (5) as the Hawks earned the doubles point in both matches.
CAA Women’s Tennis Player of the Week
Oziera Ahmad, Fr., Charleston (Hampton, N.H.)
Ahmad put together a 4-0 week at No. 3 singles as Charleston went 3-1 as a team against Sacred Heart (6-1), Samford (6-1), Toledo (3-4) and CAA foe Campbell (5-2). The freshman opened the week by cruising past SHU’s Olivia Kharkover, 6-0, 6-1, before battling past Samford’s Ally Hayduck, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3. She defeated Toledo’s Shalini Tallamraju, 6-4, 6-3, and then closed the week by topping Campbell’s Tasmin Hart, 6-4, 6-0.
CAA Women’s Tennis Doubles Team of the Week
Lily Chitambar, Fr., Campbell (Boulder, Colo.)
Tamsin Hart, Sr., Campbell (Johannesburg, South Africa)
Chitambar and Hart clinched the doubles point for Campbell in both matches against Samford (5-2) and Charleston (2-5) last week. Competing at the No. 3 position, the tandem topped Samford’s Margaret Jaraczewski and Lauren Waddles, 6-2. They also recorded a 6-2 win over Charleston’s Anna Neyestani and Francesca Salvato. Chitambar and Hart also won their singles matches against Samford.
