Towson's Benzing, Delaware's Sabev Qualify For NCAA Men's Swimming Championship

RICHMOND, Va. (March 13, 2024) – Towson senior Brian Benzing and Delaware junior
Toni Sabev have qualified for the NCAA Men’s Swimming and Diving Championship, which will be held March 27-30 at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Benzing, making his third appearance at the NCAA Championship, will compete in the 100 breast, 200 breast and 200 IM. Sabev, who is the first Delaware swimmer to ever qualify for the NCAA meet, will compete in the 100 breast and 200 breast.
Benzing earned honorable mention All-America honors for the second consecutive season after a 15
th-place finish in the 100 breast (51.48) at the 2023 NCAA Championship. He was chosen as the Most Outstanding Swimmer at the CAA Championship for the third time last month following a conference record-setting performance in the 200 IM (1:43.13) and a fourth straight title in the 100 breast (51.30). Benzing set the CAA all-time record in the 100 breast (51.25) in February of 2023.
Sabev placed second to Benzing in the 100 breast at the CAA Championship with a program-record time of 51.87. He was the CAA champion in the 200 breast with a winning time of 1:55.92. Sabev was also a member of the Delaware 200 medley relay team that set a CAA all-time record of 1:24.56 and the first place 400 medley relay team (3:09.19).
