UNCW Repeats As CAA Women's Swimming & Diving Champions

HAMPTON, Va. (March 2, 2024) – UNCW earned its second straight CAA Women’s Swimming & Diving Championship on Saturday night at the Hampton Aquaplex. It was the fifth overall title for the Seahawks.
UNCW took the top spot with 1,409 points, Delaware placed second with 1,354 points and William & Mary finished third with 1,107 points. Coming in fourth with 1,067 points was Northeastern, followed by Towson (1,024), Drexel (604), Campbell (527.5), Stony Brook (308) and Monmouth (290.5).
Drexel senior Chelsea Gravereaux was honored as the Most Outstanding Swimmer of the Meet after winning the 50, 100 and 200 free. Northeastern junior Kiki Murphy was chosen as the Most Outstanding Diver of the Meet after sweeping both boards. UNCW’s Bobby Guntoro was voted the CAA Women’s Swimming Coach of the Year for the second straight season and Northeastern’s Lauren Colby repeated as the CAA Women’s Diving Coach of the Year.
Women’s 1650 Yard Freestyle
UNCW senior Brooke Knisely captured her third consecutive CAA title in the 1650 free with a time of 16:30.29. Delaware’s Lauren Hartel placed second in a time of 16:35.08 and finishing third in a time of 16:42.95 was Emerson Dalton of UNCW.
Women’s 200 Yard Backstroke
Sophomore Ally Frame became the first Towson swimmer since 2015 to win the 200 back, finishing with a time of 1:55.61. Defending champion Anna Verlander of Northeastern finished second in 1:57.65 and taking third was 2022 champion Fede Nocera of Drexel with a time of 1:57.66.
Women’s 100 Yard Freestyle
Senior Chelsea Gravereaux recorded her third victory of the meet and became Drexel’s first-ever champion in the 100 free with a time of 48.52. She also earned gold in the 50 and 200 free. UNCW sophomore Cameron Snowden finished second in a time of 49.85 and UNCW’s Emily Waite took third with a time of 50.13.
Women’s 200 Yard Breaststroke
Junior Mania Tasakou became the first Delaware swimmer to capture the 200 breast, posting a winning time of 2:12.43. Placing second with a time of 2:13.25 was William & Mary junior Ellie Scherer and UNCW sophomore Gil Shaw took third with a time of 2:14.77.
Women’s 200 Yard Butterfly
Delaware sophomore Victoria Novinsky took the top spot in the 200 fly with a time of 1:59.11. Defending champion Sophia Heilen of William & Mary finished second with a time of 2:00.27 and placing third with a time of 2:01.68 was Delaware senior Aislinn Mitchell.
Women’s 1-Meter Diving
Junior Kiki Murphy became Northeastern’s first-ever 1-meter diving champion with a score of 285.30. Defending champion Julia Servas of Delaware took silver with a score of 282.00 and Delaware’s Alex Pastris finished third with 266.25 points.
Women’s 400 Yard Freestyle Relay
Delaware repeated as champions of the 400 freestyle relay as the team of Nicole Chiappa, Erin Shema, Olivia Willemsen and Anthi Lyra finished in 3:21.94. William & Mary placed second in a time of 3:22.04 and UNCW was third in a time of 3:22.12.
