RICHMOND, Va. (March 5, 2024) – Monmouth junior Mateo Bivol received CAA Men’s Tennis Player of the Week honors, while Delaware sophomore Maryia Hrynashka earned CAA Women’s Tennis Player of the Week accolades. Elon’s Oskar Antinheimo and Jack Curtis were chosen as the Men’s Doubles Team of the Week and Elon’s Simone Bergeron and Ella Suk were named the Women’s Doubles Team of the Week.
 
CAA Men’s Tennis Player of the Week
Mateo Bivol, Jr., Monmouth (Cestas, France)

Bivol provided the clinching point in Monmouth’s 4-3 conference victory over No. 65 William & Mary last Sunday. With the match tied at 3-3, the junior battled past W&M’s Alexandre Leblanc, 4-6, 7-5, 6-3 at the No. 1 singles spot to give the Hawks the win and push their record to 8-2 this season.

CAA Men’s Tennis Doubles Team of the Week
Oskar Antinheimo, So., Elon (Helsinki, Finland)
Jack Curtis, Fr., Elon (Portsmouth, England)
 
Antinheimo and Curtis went 2-0 at No. 3 doubles last week to help Elon earn the doubles point in team wins over ETSU (4-1) and Fairfield (7-0). The Phoenix duo defeated ETSU’s Pedro Cressoni and Alberto Garcia, 6-3, and followed by topping Fairfield’s Alex Aguiar and Sam Hodges, 6-1. Antinheimo and Curtis are 7-2 this season, with all seven victories coming by 6-1, 6-2 or 6-3 scores.

CAA Women’s Tennis Player of the Week
Maryia Hrynashka, So., Delaware (Rancho Cordova, Calif.)

Hrynashka posted a 3-0 mark in both singles and doubles last week as Delaware defeated LIU (4-3), CAA foe Monmouth (7-0) and Delaware State (4-0). The sophomore opened the week with a 6-2, 6-3 win over LIU’s Saki Oyama at No. 3 singles, before moving up to the No. 1 slot against Monmouth and beating Lana Brezanin, 6-2, 6-0. She moved back to No. 3 vs. DSU and downed Daria Jula, 6-4, 6-2. Hrynashka and partner Julieta Honrubia swept their matches at No. 2 doubles in dominant fashion, surrendering just three total games in the three matches.

CAA Women’s Tennis Double Team of the Week
Simone Bergeron, Fr., Elon (Vienna, Va.)
Ella Suk, Fr., Elon (Tucker, Ga.)
 
Bergeron and Suk helped Elon secure the doubles point in a 6-1 triumph over in-state foe Davidson last week. Playing at No. 3 doubles, the Phoenix tandem topped Savanna Kollock and Bryson Langford, 6-2. Bergeron and Suk improved to 6-1 as a team this season and have dominated their foes 38-17 in overall games during that seven-match span.
