UNCW Leads Crowded Pack After Windy First Round of CAA Women’s Golf Championship

SOUTHPORT, N.C. (April 12, 2024) – UNCW is one shot up on Charleston with a tie between Campbell and Delaware close behind following the first 18 holes of the CAA Women’s Golf Championship at The Reserve Club at St. James.
 


Friday’s opening round was played under sunny skies and temperatures in the low 70s with sustained winds over 20 miles per hour with gusts to 32 mph throughout the day.
 
UNCW was 20-over and led by Malu Brinker, whose 74 (+2) matched Delaware’s Alisa Khokhlova for the top round of the day. Monmouth’s Ava Lozito (+3) is third with a five-way tie for fourth behind that. The Seahawks are followed by Charleston (+21), a tie for third between Campbell and Delaware (+24), and Elon (+30) one shot ahead of William & Mary (+31) for fifth. Towson, N.C. A&T, Monmouth, and Hofstra rounded out the 10-team field.
 
Saturday’s Second Round will begin at 8:30 a.m. with all 10 teams beginning their days at the same time as Friday.
