Nikki Mennella are the winners of the CAA Women’s Lacrosse Weekly Awards presented by Primis for the week ending April 14.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Ellie Masera, Stony Brook

Masera continued to bolster her résumé as one of the nation’s best players in No. 13 Stony Brook’s 3-0 week. The senior from Long Island tallied 12 goals, nine assists, and 25 draw controls in wins over Rutgers, William & Mary, and Drexel; two of the three opponents entered the week receiving votes in the IWLCA/ILWomen poll. Masera’s best performance came in a matchup of CAA unbeatens at Drexel Sunday with seven goals, five assists, and 13 draw controls; the 12 points were tied for second in a game in program and CAA history behind Claire Petersen’s 13 for Stony Brook in 2013 and Stacey Morlang’s 16 for Loyola in 2002. Masera, who eclipsed 200 career goals during the week, leads the nation in points per game (6.23), ranks fourth in goals (4.31), and 11
th in draws (8.31).
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Hines repeats as Defensive Player of the Week after helping No. 13 Stony Brook hold Rutgers, William & Mary, and Drexel to a combined 9.7 goals per game in a 3-0 week. The junior from Maryland tallied nine caused turnovers and seven ground balls with at least two of each in all three wins. Hines has recorded three or more caused turnovers in three of her last four games for the nation’s No. 5 scoring defense (8.20) and ranks sixth in the nation in CTs/game (2.67).

Mennella is Rookie of the Week for the third time in six weeks after two key performances moved Hofstra to 6-0 in CAA play. The redshirt freshman from Long Island had eight goals, three assists, and four ground balls as the Pride defeated Monmouth and Delaware by a combined margin of 41-18. Hofstra’s 22 goals in Friday’s win were the Pride’s most since 2012; Hofstra has clinched no lower than the No. 3 seed in the CAA Championship.
