RICHMOND, Va. (April 22, 2024) – The CAA has announced its men’s lacrosse weekly awards for the week beginning on
April 15 and ending on April 21. Hofstra graduate face-off specialist Chase Patterson was named CAA Offensive Player of the Week. In addition, Delaware senior goalkeeper Kevin Ellington earned his third straight CAA Defensive Player of the Week honor. Finally, Fairfield freshman long-stick midfielder Julian Radossich collected back-to-back CAA Rookie of the Week accolades.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Chase Patterson, Hofstra
Graduate | Face-Off | Richboro, Pa. / Council Rock South
Patterson was impressive at the X, posting a .794 face-off winning percentage with 24 ground balls, helping the Pride to a 1-1 week. The graduate FOGO tallied four points on one goal and three assists while going 31-of-39 on face-offs across two games. On Tuesday, Patterson had three points – one goal and two assists – 19 ground balls and went 23-for-30 at the X in a battle against No. 8 Yale. The ground ball and point totals were new career-highs, while the face-off wins tied his previous career-best. On Saturday, he tallied one assist, went 8-of-9 on face-offs and scooped five ground balls in a win over Hampton.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Kevin Ellington, Delaware
Senior | Goalkeeper | Bel Air, Md. / Loyola Blakefield
Ellington continued his strong effort between the pipes, recording 17 saves in Delaware’s 13-6 victory over Drexel on Saturday. The senior goalkeeper posted a .739 save percentage, adding a season-high six ground balls with one caused turnover. Ellington turned away 11 shots in the first half and six in the second while blanking the Dragons in the third period. It marks his third straight game with at least 15 saves and his seventh double-digit save performance this spring. In addition, it was his fifth effort limiting the opponent to six goals or fewer this year.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Julian Radossich, Fairfield
Freshman | LSM | Ridgewood, N.J. / Delbarton
Radossich recorded one point on one assist with four ground balls and two caused turnovers, helping Fairfield defeat Stony Brook 11-10 and secure its first CAA Tournament berth since 2016. The freshman’s assist came during Fairfield’s 3-0 spurt in the third, which tied the game, 7-7, for the first time since 0-0. In addition, Radossich’s second caused turnover broke the Stags’ single-season record and led to the eventual game-winning goal on the ensuing possession. Radossich leads the CAA with 26 caused turnovers, ranking eighth nationally with 2.00 per game.
