Stela Joksimovic earned the final CAA Women’s Tennis Player of the Week honor for the 2024 season after a dramatic three-set victory. Campbell’s
Lily Chitambar and
Mariana Ossa were selected as the Women’s Doubles Team of the Week after clinching the doubles point for the Camels.
CAA Women’s Tennis Player of the Week
Stela Joksimovic, Jr., UNCW (Chapel Hill, N.C.)
Joksimovic helped UNCW post a 4-3 victory over Campbell last Saturday by rallying for a three-set win at No. 2 singles. After taking the opening set, 6-2, against the Camels’ Lily Chitambar, the junior dropped the second set, 6-4, and was trailing 5-1 in the third. Joksimovic fought off several match points to capture the final set, 7-6, in a 7-5 tiebreaker as UNCW battled back from a 3-1 deficit in the match.
CAA Women’s Tennis Doubles Team of the Week
Lily Chitambar, Fr., Campbell (Boulder, Colo.)
Mariana Ossa, Sr., Campbell (Key Biscayne, Fla.)
Chitambar and Ossa clinched the doubles point for Campbell in its narrow 4-3 setback to UNCW last Saturday. Playing at the No. 2 slot, the Camels’ duo defeated Alicia Eberwein and Stela Joksimovic, 6-2, to give Campbell an early 1-0 edge in the match. Chitambar and Ossa improved to 7-1 at No. 2 doubles and are on a seven-match winning streak.
