Women’s Lacrosse | Schedule
A non-conference battle of ranked teams, a win-and-in showdown, and a CAA Semifinals preview highlight the week’s slate in women’s lacrosse. No. 13 Stony Brook will host No. 19 Stanford in a Thursday matinee (3 p.m., LacrosseTV) with the Seawolves the final team to have a conference bye. Stony Brook went 8-0 in league play and secured its second consecutive outright regular season title on Sunday.
Saturday’s conference slate features three games at noon, with Delaware facing Monmouth, William & Mary taking on Campbell, and Drexel and Hofstra squaring off in Hempstead in a preview of next Thursday’s second CAA Semifinal. The Dragons and Pride enter the weekend both 6-1 in CAA action and will be the No. 2 and 3 seed at Stony Brook with the higher seed going to Saturday’s winner.
The final contest of the regular season is one of its most pivotal, as Elon faces Towson at 1 p.m. at Tiger Field. The winner of the game between two teams entering at 4-3 in CAA games will be the No. 4 seed in the CAA Championship, while the losing team will be eliminated from postseason contention. All four of Saturday’s games can be seen on FloLive with the Delaware-Monmouth game regionally available on Delmarva Sports Network.
Baseball | Schedule
Four weekends remain in the CAA baseball race and there are several important series on the slate. The league’s other co-leader, UNCW (26-15, 12-3 CAA), also hits the road to face William & Mary (25-16, 8-7 CAA). Third-place Northeastern (28-11, 10-5) welcomes a surging Elon (17-23, 6-9 CAA) team that blanked No. 8 Wake Forest, 3-0, on Tuesday. Stony Brook (21-17, 9-6 CAA), which has won eight of its last nine in league play, visits Monmouth. Rounding out the schedule, Hofstra (14-27, 5-10) is at home against North Carolina A&T (21-19, 5-10 CAA) and Delaware (20-19, 8-7 CAA) makes the short trip to Towson (10-30, 3-12 CAA).
Softball | Schedule
Campbell, Delaware, and Stony Brook secured berths in the CAA Championship last weekend, and UNCW, Elon, and Hofstra look to accomplish that feat this weekend. It will be a tall task for the Phoenix, who visit the hottest team in NCAA Softball, traveling to face Stony Brook this weekend. The Seawolves have won 17 straight games – a program record and the longest active winning streak in the nation. UNCW is also on the road, visiting Drexel. The Seahawks need just one win to ensure playing on their home field for the CAA Tournament. Meanwhile, Hofstra will look to clinch at home, hosting Hampton. The Pride are guaranteed a berth with a sweep and a chance to defend their title.
Men’s Lacrosse | Schedule
It is the final week of the regular season in men’s lacrosse. We know we’ll see Delaware, Towson, and Fairfield at Johnny Unitas Stadium next week, but first, we must determine a regular season champion. On Friday, Delaware hosts Towson at 7 p.m. in our CAA Game of the Week on Lacrosse TV, with the winner earning the regular season title and the top seed in the conference tournament. The team that falls short will be seeded second next week. The teams split their contests last season as the Tigers knocked off the Blue Hens in the final week of the regular season before Delaware defeated Towson in the semifinals of the CAA Championship.
In addition, four teams - Drexel, Hofstra, Monmouth, and Stony Brook - remain alive for the final berth to the CAA Championship. The quartet sits at 2-4 in league play, and the four teams have an equal probability to make the field. The Dragons visit the Hawks at 3 p.m. on Friday, and the Seawolves host the Pride at noon on Saturday.
Rowing | Schedule
Five CAA crews will hit the water for competitions this weekend. Headlining the slate is Northeastern – receiving votes in the Coaches poll – competing against three teams ranked or receiving votes nationally on Lake Carnegie. The Huskies will go head-to-head with No. 3 Princeton, Columbia, and Notre Dame in a competition hosted by the defending Ivy League Champion. In addition, Drexel – fresh off winning its sixth straight Kerr Cup – returns to the Schuylkill River for the Kelly Cup Regatta. Finally, UCSD is set to participate in the WIRA Championships, while UConn faces Bucknell and Eastern Michigan hosts Dayton in dual meets.
Track & Field | Schedule
The focus of the track & field world is on Philadelphia this weekend, where CAA student-athletes with qualifying marks from Delaware, Elon, Hampton, Hofstra, Monmouth, UNCW, Northeastern, Stony Brook, and Towson will head to Franklin Field for The Penn Relays presented by Toyota. Campbell will split its team between the Charlotte Invitational, where they will be joined by the Phoenix, and the East Coast Relays, where they will be accompanied by the Seahawks. Monmouth and Northeastern will also split their squads, with the Hawks traveling to Lehigh for the Carol and John Covert Classic, and the Huskies hosting the Jay Carisella Coaches Invitational. Finally, William & Mary stays in state, heading to Charlottesville for the Virginia High Performance.
