W&M, UNCW Learn First-Round Opponents In NCAA Tennis Championships

RICHMOND, Va. (April 29, 2024) – CAA women’s tennis champion William & Mary and CAA men’s tennis champion UNCW learned their first-round opponents in the NCAA Tennis Championships on Monday night.

The Tribe received a No. 3 seed in the Chapel Hill, N.C. Regional and will face Big Ten member Wisconsin (18-6) at 3 p.m. on Friday. Host North Carolina takes on Patriot League champ Navy in the other match on Friday, with the winners meeting in the regional final at 6 p.m. on Saturday.

William & Mary (18-5) defeated Delaware, 4-0, on Sunday to earn its third straight CAA championship. It was the 14th straight victory for the Tribe, which tied a program record. W&M is making its 26th overall appearance in the NCAA Tournament and has 21 wins all-time in the event.

UNCW (17-5) received a No. 4 seed in the Raleigh, N.C. Regional and will take on host NC State (17-6) in the first round at 4 p.m. on Friday. Also competing at the regional are South Carolina and Old Dominion, with the winners facing off in the regional final at 5 p.m. on Saturday.

The Seahawks captured their fourth consecutive CAA championship with a 4-1 triumph over Elon on April 21. UNCW is on a 12-match winning streak, which includes a victory over ODU. The Seahawks are making their 11th NCAA regional appearance.
