RICHMOND, Va. (May 1, 2024) – The top three teams from the regular season – Towson, Delaware and Fairfield – garnered major awards in the conference’s year-end honors as voted on by the league’s eight head coaches.

Towson graduate attackman Nick DeMaio was named CAA Offensive Player of the Year, and Delaware senior goalkeeper Kevin Ellington received CAA Defensive Player of the Year honors. Fairfield freshman long-stick midfielder Julian Radossich collected CAA Rookie of the Year accolades, while Tigers head coach Shawn Nadelen was tabbed as the CAA Coach of the Year by his peers.

DeMaio paced the conference’s top-scoring offense with a career-high 66 points, recording 29 goals and 37 assists this spring. The graduate student led the CAA in total points and ranked 12th in the NCAA with 4.71 points per game, including seven contests with five or more. In addition, he ranked second in the conference in assists and 13th nationally in assists per game (2.64). DeMaio is the first CAA Offensive Player of the Year for the Tigers since 2019 and second in program history.

Ellington joins Owen Grant – who won the previous three CAA Defensive Player of the Year awards – as the only two players in Delaware program history to earn the honors. The senior anchored the second-ranked scoring defense in the NCAA between the pipes this season. Ellington ranked top-10 nationally in save percentage, saves per game and goals-against average. The senior led the nation with a .608 save percentage and turned away 13.33 shots per game to rank sixth. In addition, he was fifth with an 8.93 goals-against average.

Radossich is the third straight CAA Rookie of the Year from Fairfield and fifth in program history. The freshman broke the Stags’ single-season record for caused turnovers, leading the CAA with 26 this spring. Radossich ranked 11th in the NCAA with 1.86 caused turnovers per game, recording two or more in 10 games this year. He also tallied 39 ground balls with three points on one goal and two assists during his freshman campaign.

Nadelen earns his third CAA Coach of the Year honor during his tenure, becoming just the second coach in league history to complete the feat. This season the Tigers won their sixth CAA Regular Season title under Nadelen and first outright since 2017, while becoming the first team in conference history to finish the regular season 7-0. Towson tied for the NCAA lead with 11 wins, posting a +78-goal differential to rank second in the NCAA in scoring margin (5.57). Subsequently, the Tigers ranked first nationally in scoring defense (8.64) and ninth in scoring offense (14.21).

Joining DeMaio on the First Team All-CAA at the attack was Stony Brook graduate Dylan Pallonetti and Delaware senior JP Ward. Fairfield sophomore Will Consoli, Drexel redshirt freshman Gavin Kelly, Hofstra junior Griffin Turner and Towson sophomore Mikey Weisshaar comprise the midfield, with Towson junior Matt Constantinides designated the top face-off specialist. On the back end, Radossich was accompanied by Towson senior Colby Barsz, Monmouth junior Gabe Bowen-Slott and Stony Brook graduate Christian Lowd, with Ellington rounding out the First Team All-CAA between the pipes.
