BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell redshirt senior Lawson Harrill is a semifinalist for the 2024 Dick Howser Trophy presented by The Game Headwear, the trophy committee announced Thursday afternoon in conjunction with the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.
The trophy, in its 37th year, is given to the top player in college baseball based on two rounds of national voting by NCBWA members. Criteria for consideration of the trophy include performance on the field, leadership, moral character and courage.
68 individuals made up the group of semifinalists, comprising 18 different conferences and 48 different schools. Harrill is the only representative from the CAA.
Harrill became the all-time home runs leader for Campbell earlier this year when he hit the 51st of his career. He has 23 long balls this year, just three away from tying that program record with three games remaining in the regular season.
Harrill leads the Camels in nearly every major hitting category. He leads the team in batting average, hits, home runs, RBI and slugging and on-base percentages.
Among the conference, Harrill is second in home runs and runs scored, sixth in hits, fourth in doubles and RBI, second in total bases, third in on-base percentage and second in slugging percentage.
The finalists for the award will be announced on Thursday, June 8.
